Folk Prescription of Love

As a child, I have been suffered from asthma. At that time, my family was in the countryside and the economic condition was not very well. So it was not an easy thing to send me to the hospital.

One day, an old man who passed by our village and told a prescription to my father: put an egg into toad’s mouth, and buried in the straw, and then burned it until the egg could eat. My father asked:” is the egg could eat?” “Of course, this prescription has cured many people.” The old man answered.

At first, he was very happy when he heard about this news. But he thought it over, he pull a long face again. Was it all right to eat a virulent animal? Finally, he wanted to try. But my mother held the opposite views: “maybe it is useful to our daughter’s disease. But it is winter now, how can you find the toad? When the next spring comes, they will appear.” Ma father was angry: “it was too late to spring, I can get them under the soil.” In the morning, he out of the door and dig a lot of caves hardly. But none of the toads he could see. Luckily, he found four toads under the pointing of neighbor’s grandma.

George finishes his script

On Tuesday, George R.R. Martin handed in the script, more precisely the first draft, of the ninth episode he is writing for the second season:

Today I delivered the first draft of “Blackwater” to Dan and David. (Finally) A bit overdue, as always. And probably too long and long expensive, as my scripts always are. (I got to write the [event edited for spoilers]. I tried to be good and restrain myself, but you know how things go. Oh, well. I knew the job was dangerous when I took it).

This is television… (no, it’s not TV, it’s HBO)… so there will undoubtedly be many further drafts and revisions. But the first draft is the hard one. Read the rest of this entry »
